Nel 2015, Ryley Walker ha suonato qualcosa come 200 concerti: il suo secondo disco, Primrose Green, era stato incensato Mojo, Uncut, il Village Voice e la NPR, e Robert Plant se ne era dichiarato fan. Niente male, vero? Rientrato a Chicago non si è concesso chissà quale vacanza: si è messo al lavoro con il produttore e musicista Leroy Bach (nei Wilco fino al 2004) e il risultato si chiama Golden Sings That Have Been Sung, il nuovo disco appena uscito. L'impronta che Ryley sta lasciando si fa ogni giorno più profonda. Il suo folk non è, perdonate l'audacia, il solito folk. Piacerà ai fan di John Martyn come a quelli di Kevin Ayers, susciterà interesse in chi ama Jim O'Rourke o Tim Buckley. La sua musica ha un coraggio innato, forse quello della giovane età , forse quello di un talento che siamo orgogliosi di proporvi in una data unica per il nostro paese.
