In July Jamie xx embarks on a tour to shine a new light on the beauty and the magic of South Of Italy, spanning three different historical and naturalistic contexts of one of the most ancient and fascinating part of the Belpaese. The tour is named Ma Ogni Giorno Il Sole Tramonta Tour (But Everyday The Sun Sets Tour) after Italian design maestro Ettore Sottsass and his wife Fernanda Pivano’s quote from Pensieri di Pace per il 1966 (Peace Thoughts for the 1966): a series of antinomies which shows the contradiction and the wonder of life.

Taking place in unique venues, the Ma Ogni Giorno Il Sole Tramonta Tour hits 2018’s Italian cultural capital Palermo, 2019’s European cultural capital Matera and the idyllic Apulia’s Valle d’Itria: the tour kicks off the 1st July at Palermo’s Villa Bordonaro, a XVIII century building and former Borbones’ residency, and it continues on the 3rd in collaboration with Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019 and its director Paolo Verri in the magnificent tuff quarry of Matera’s Cava Paradiso. The Ma Ogni Giorno Il Sole Tramonta Tour finishes on the 5th in the rolling green hills of the beautiful Valle d’Itria, with Jamie xx taking to the stage at Masseria Eccellenza, a gorgeous masseria (traditional working farm) surrounded by secular olive trees.

The tour also sees Jamie xx share the stage with some of the finest Italian producers and djs. A colourful cast of talents that features disco trailblazer Daniele Baldelli, serious digger and selector Elena Colombi, computerized dub project Still, first-rate EBM and acid purveyor Not Waving and dancehall specialist Lil C.

3 July — Cava Paradiso, Matera — with Lil C, Still

The tour is made in collaboration with Turin’s avant-pop festival Club To Club and VIVA! Festival, this year at its 2nd edition and taking place throughout the extraordinary Valle d’Itria’s territory and its surroundings from 4th to 8th July.
